Hi guys, first post so I'm sorry if this has been covered already. I'm currently trying to get down to the original wood of a table I bought recently and having taken the paint of with a heatgun/scraper I have reached a second layer, some type of undercoat. This is black and seems to be plasticy rather than painty. No idea what it is. Removing in on the surface required using a sander on my drill and it came of fine. Using a heat gun on it seemed not to blister it but melt it and it seeped into the wood a bit. I'm struggling with the edges because they ogee(?) edges so I can't get my sander in such a tight space and the heat gun, as I said seems to do more damage. Any idea on what I could do?
Thanks.

Try heating it but only just a little and see if it peels away, try with a hair dryer if you are worried about more damage
