My old mum has a bog standard oak kitchen, solid door rails and stiles with ply or mdf faces panels, of course the finish , nasty acid cured laquer or somethning, has gone dull after a few years and she now wants a bright white kitchen like her next door neighbour !

Painting over good oak is sacrilege to me.

I'm saying i will strip the doors and lime wax finish them, and paint the rest ( i used to french polish gun stocks i know a bit about it)

Is this a do'able project ?

i mean a bright kitchen, not neccessarily brillinate white gloss all over . Limed would be fine.
