This should be a simple enough job. The new sensor has a screw in the middle. Unscrew it and the front cover comes off to reveal the wires.

But in the same place on the old sensor is a narrow slot and no screw; in fact no obvious way of removing the cover.

Any ideas?

Hi,

You could have a go at using a screwdriver to rotate the slot to a vertical position.
Then see if the cover pulls away.
If it doesn't, rotate the slot to the horizontal position and try again!
If that doesn't work, it may even be a screw! :)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried sticking several different screwdrivers into the slot and turning them to 'unscrew' the cover but nothing much seemed to happen. The slot itself doesn't move.

I might have to resort to that in the end.

It is evidently some sort of anti-tamper mechanism. I have seen anti-tamper screws before, but never anti-tamper slots!

A bigger screwdriver and turn anticlock, looks similar to a Wiska box type screw, they often bind up, failing that if your binning it, just break off the cover.
