Im currently doing a bathroom refit and have noticed the stud wall is just 18mm x 47mm vertical pieces of osb(i think) i have not come across this before.

the plan was to overboard with cement board or have new plasterboard then tile, taking into consideration weight per m2 (20kg m2) but im not to sure the studs will handle the weight
and was built for plasterboard only
any advice will be appreciated.

18mm by 47mm OSB are you sure? Looks like standard timber to me

Is that a solid wall behind? They probably built a timber frame to hang the plasterboard on so cables and pipework could be run behind , quite normal

if you copy the image then save as you can zoom in.

It looks like the wall behind is some sort of Breeze block??? and at least one cable in there as well.

As for the board??? might be plasterboard???

Some low level further investigations needed??

Ken.
