Stud wall

Loft conversion question ( probably another daft one, sorry about that )

Do I deck the floor before building stud walls ( room dividers etc ) so the foot plate sits on the chipboard ?

Or do I fix the foot plate to the joists and chipboard round the walls ?

The first would seem the stronger and more efficient option ?

Option 1 is always best, but are the walls going to be sitting on a joist If they're not, then you'll need some square 4x2 noggins every 400-600 to provide extra support.

Thank you that's what I thought and Yes the walls will be over a joist ( near as anyway ) ....
