Stumped!- Problem on PME - shows no neutral???

Hi all,
Went out on a job today,....The supply had been moved to the outside,...
The client wanted a new consumer split board installed and relocated,...

I managed to get the supply to the board and decided that I'd just draw out a 2.5 mm twin & e to a socket to charge the drill overnight,.....

No joy,....doing a quick check using a "socket tester" which showed no neutral present,....Checked the connections but all seem fine!!!

Well I resigned to rest for the day,...But I am Stumped!!!

This must be simple,....what ...how..what next??
Help.

Break in the cable somewhere?

Have you done your efli+PSCC tests at the CU? What are the readings like at the socket? Isn't just a dodgy socket front?

Hi Both,....
I don't think there is a break in the cable as it is fresh cable of which I snipped a piece for the charger,...

I have as yet not done any tests will be doing that today,....

- Which tests do you mean?The abreviated form is unclear.

My more basic concern is that there was no neutral ,....and as a result both neutral and live busbars were "showing live" when checked with a little screwdriver tester(lights up).

Is it possible that the RCD Module is faulty??? (supply was taken from the rcd side of the split?)

You shouldn't ever use one of them screwdeivers.

Why didn't you test BOTH sides of the RCD?

EFL - Earth Fault Loop Test. This will confirm you have a neutral and earth present if done correctly.

Is the supply a new supply or a simple move? The DNO may have ballsed up, or you may have....

The supply is a new one installed ,....What is the possible mistake that they could have made?

It sounds like you havn't a clue what you are doing and you shouldn't be doing it anyway!

So are you a spark or not?
You never heard of Earth fault loop impedance abreviated to EFLI?
PSCC = prospective short circuit current?

"when checked with a little screwdriver tester" = NOT A SPARKY..

no self respecting sparky ever uses a neon screwdriver to determine if a wire is live..

although I do use a non contact volt stick to see if a cable is live..

and a volt tester as a method of quick testing..

I always have a digital multimeter and my other test gear in the van just in case..
