Hello all

I'm wondering what the best way to heat my hot water over the summer would be. We have oil central heating which also heats the hot water. Now that it is summer the heating is generally not on, but I can have the oil boiler heat the hot water. However I was wondering if it is more cost effective to heat the hot water tank with the electric rather than oil boiler ?

How do I even go about comparing the costs?

any help appreciated

No, it will be substantially cheaper to heat it with oil.

100% agree. It would be best to the Hot Water heating timed & a cold hot water cylinder to heat.
Oil boilers really need to run for at least 20 minutes before they reach their optimum efficiency.
