I has my bathroom and shower completely refitted in January. Both look generally excellent however i have started to see two horizontal rows in the shower where the grout seems to have sunk.

When you look further there are numerous tiny pinholes. The rest of the shower and the rest of the tiling everywhere else looks superb.

It is probably are area which sees the most direct exposure to shower, soap, shampoo etc. it has only been cleaned with regular bathroom spray and soft sponge.

Have we done this, is this acceptable wear and tear or should we get them back?

They only came back last week to pull up the flooring in the main bathroom because there was a leak under the floorboards from the fitting of the radiator. I fear they are going to think i am just being pernickity with this?

I wouldn’t say it’s any thing you have done unless you started cleaning it when it wasn’t fully cured. It does need sorting one way or the other as water could get down the back. With regards to getting them back and fearing they might think you been finicky, so what you’re the customer. Having said that, it would be easy enough to sort, just get a small tub of ready mix grout and apply to fill the holes.

Thanks. We didn’t use the shower for a month after it was installed because we were getting blinds installed so no chance we did anything before it was cured

It looks almost like the sunken area was never grouted in the first place.

Anyway, it just needs grout added. If you were doing it properly you might use a multitool to cut out the old grout to a deeper depth, but that's not necessarily needed.

Re-grouting it is a trivial job, so I would just tell them you'd like it addressed and see what they say.

Often get pinholes from ready mixed grout as it tends to be too thin and shrinks back due to excess moisture. Needs raking out and redoing .

Thanks everyone really appreciate it.

When rubbing my finger against other areas of grouting which look fine I get a residue of grey/white fine powder. Bearing in mind we have cleaned the shower many times since install. Is that still just grout haze or limescale. I had assumed so

The guy is coming back next week and I want to make sure nothing is left unqueried.

Also once this guy has sorted the sunken area and it is fully cured is sealing recommended? I see different views online.

Guys came back today but left while i was on work call. How long do i leave before wiping tiles down and is this just a wet sponge job and do i avoid using shower for a few days (we have another!)

He seemed bemused when i asked if we should apply seal. Is that not recommended?
