Does Supplementary bonding have to be in place and checked before alterations can be made on circuits not inside the bathroom? What do regs say about this?

It is a fundamental requirement of BS7671 that the earthing and bonding is adequate before any alterations or additions are carried out. Supplementary bonding also protects persons inside the bathroom from potential differences from introduced from outside the bathroom, so I would say yes, it does.

What if people dont want you ripping bath panels of baths to check bonding cos adding spots in lounge? Do you refuse to do work?

Is that where it has to be lower than 0.05ohms? WHat if theres broken continuity ie plastic pushfits?

Supplementary Equipotential does NOT have to be in place in a domestic property before commencing an addition or alteration, provided the (quote BS7671) "earthing and bonding arrangements are adequate"

You may wish to point out any eveidence of inadequate supplementary local equipotential bonding to the customer, but this does not necessarily mean you cant continue with your addition/alteration.

No it doesn't if your work is not taking place inside the bathroom.
Just make a note in the comments box if you see that it's not in place but don't go out of your way looking for it.
