Hi

I need some advice on the best way to provide a supply for electric gates.

At the moment, I have a 63A 30ma cu in a garage with a 6a mcb for lighting and a 16a mcb for a small radial circuit - there are no spare mcbs in this cu. This garage cu is fed from the house using 10mm t+e on a 40a mcb, the house cu is protected by an rccb. The gates and control box are around 30 metres from the garage.

Can anybody advise on this please?

Depending on the load rating of the gates, you could fit a fused spur on the socket circuit. Then run armoured cable to your electric gates. You need to calculate the size of cable over 30m according to the current used. If you do not have enough capacity on the radial circuit, you'll have to upgrade your fusebox for a larger one.
