surface mounted sockets

Hi
Want to put in a surface mounted socket to avoid using trailing leads. My question is can i run it from an existing socket by simply plugging it in? If so, is there anything I should be aware of? Bit of a novice so apologies if it's a dumb question...

You could, provided it is wired in flex (twin and earth isn't suitable for fitting into a plug), and the flex was suitably secured so it couldn't be pulled out of the socket.

Or for less than £5 you could get these:

and fix them to the wall for a lot less work, and no wiring involved at all.

With either option, the new sockets would be limited to 13A maximum, however this won't be an issue unless you were intending to use them for heavy duty appliances like washing machines or kettles.
