''Vehicle searches'', ''stop and search'' methods have been used by police for decades and they are in theory completely unlawful. Very often police do not know they are breaking the law themselves by carrying out such searches because they do not have the proper legal training. I would not hestitate in thinking the surevillance authorities routinely hack/break into private domains without the proper warrants as well.
