I have a project where the land of the site falls from front to back very steeply. The house looks like a bungalow from the front as it has an unused area to the rear lower half of the building that we are converting and extending.
The lower floor area has a strip foundation with a concrete slab but the head height is only 2000mm from floor to ceiling that we are looking to increase.
The idea is to knock the concrete slab out, dig out around 450mm and then install a wall plate to hold a suspended timber floor. My concern is that the wall plate would sit below the existing dpc in the walls. Is there a way round this with putting a dpc behind the wall plate and adding some sealant to the fixings?
