I have just taken down an old ceiling rose and am trying to work out how to wire it to a new spotlight. Looking at the chockblock diagrams has really helped but...

The wires in the ceiling are:

1. Red, Black, Green/Yellow
2. Red, Black, Green/Yellow
3. Red, Red, Green/Yellow

I know the third is the switch cable, but how do I identify which wire goes to live and which to neutral, or does it not matter?

well if you know which is the switch cable and if you are sure you know which is the switch cable connect the other two colour to colour, then connect your switht cable to the light and live an the light to neutral.

its in the wiki and in the sticky
