I have recently setup a hifi upstairs. The boiler downstairs in the kitchen is connected to the upstairs ring, by a spur that drops down from the ring circuit in the ceiling void. Every time the boiler switches on, there's a loud click heard through the speakers - how can I prevent this?

Is it an old boiler? Modern ones are pretty quiet regarding start up noise.
You could try putting a CONTACT SUPRESSOR between the boiler live and neutral.
This should reduce the start up spike.
