Hello

I have a similar switch (pictured below) which is connected to another single socket and then connected to a fridge.

Now the little light is flickering constantly, is this illustrating something is wrong with my fridge or is the bulb inside the switch playing up.

please forgive my lack of knowledge, hope u can help, thankyou

The neons are prone to slight flickering but it would be worth checking that there are no loose connections in the switch or its feed cable.Make sure the circuit is isolated before checking this

Neons indicators can do this sometimes, generally when they have been in use for some time but I have known the odd new one to do this. The only thing that can be done is replace the neon or the full unit if you are that bothered.

Bah, beaten by Ricicle!!

the Red neon on the switch is on its way out they start to flicker when they are about to go

Just replace the switch with a new one

"" Lick this cable and tell me if its live "" ( a very very bad idea)

Schocking....... If it was dead he could tell you, if it was live then he probably couldn't tell you.. :o

I know this does not help but it might be a sign something is wrong or then again it might not. It depends upon the flicker rate.

Thanks

I wont bother changing it, just thought something was wrong with my fridge (it is old).

That's what I'd like to know.

Simple domestic fridges and simple chest freezers tend to last forever, treated right.

I have seen a control unit for a commercial split unit fridge, with a few neons on it. It was quite old. In one of the neons, it flickers back and forth, like one of those special effect candle bulbs with 2 filaments! Nothing to worry about.

Out of interest, what technology do these little lights use? Is it actually neon?
