Does anybody know how much current flows in a neon indicator? <1mA, IIRC....
Look in RS/Farnell/Maplin/Rapid Electronics/Wherever for a small 230V panel indicator. Fit it to a blanking plate fixed to the ceiling and wire it in parallel with the loft light.
