Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Thanks. Sadly it is going to be beyond skills/available tools to do that.

So, the first image shows the part of the bathroom where the spur is, on the boxing below and to the right of the combi. This would be an ideal location for a USB port.

So just add one there, above, or round the corner from, the boiler FCU. Why try to replace the FCU with one with a built-in USB outlet?

Image 02 shows what would be a great place for a shaver socket. Why would I not just put one there? One with USB?

Would that also be a good place to have a USB outlet?

It seems simple enough. And who wouldn't want a light and a shaver socket above their bathroom mirror?

Light, yes, but the answer to the second part of that question is "anybody who doesn't use a mains powered corded shaver"

Image Attic shows the massive old water tank preventing access to the area above the sink/mirror.

Do you still need that tank of water?

Thanks. Sadly it is going to be beyond skills/available tools to do that.

I think you might be overestimating the difficulty of clipping Euromodules into a faceplate.

Never seen one as a single unit.

You could build one out of euro modules but it would need a double backbox.
Triple. Assuming you can even get flex outlet modules (can you??)

Switch - 1
Fuse - 1
Flex outlet - 1
USB - 2
Blank - 1

hmm, good question, I thought you could but I can't seem to find one.

However, there is an alternative, Scholmore sell a double plate that is half gridpro and half Euro module, and gridpro does have a flex outlet module.

There are single width USB charger modules.

So the full list would be something like

CMA31102 - double plate two module Euro plus two module gridpro
MM586WH - USB charger Euro module
MM047WH - 13A fuse Euro module
GM2018PW - Gridpro 20A DP switch module.
GM2017PW - Gridpro flex outlet module.

No it does not have to be done in the bathroom but I often sit on the floor down there to paint stuff and it would be useful to have a USB outlet. Also I have a USB razor and it would be nice if I could leave it down there.

It is the double back box that is the problem. Cutting the boxing is what I don't have the tools for and I am not inclined to learn the skills to do it. Electrics don't bother me in the slightest. Modular stuff is well easy. I've been building PC's since the 90's.

If your ok with it sticking out of the wall you could use a single to double converter box. e.g.
Ah, so that fits over the current back box and then I can use the modular kit as detailed by plugwash. Cool! Eventually I'll get the whole room ripped out and everything replaced but there are more important jobs. So it sticking out from the wall is not an issue.

Thanks!

Final ask: has anyone ever seen a switched fused spur with a flex outlet and a USB socket.
I've certainly never seen or heardof such a thing. Plenty of single sockets with a USB socket, or plates with one or two USB sockets, but not an FCU with USB.
As has been said, if you could accept a double-width backbox and plate, you could build what you want using modules, or you could even use a dual backbox to add a plate with USB socket(s) next to, and fed from, the FCU.

I guess you aren’t into running cables up walls.

Only trouble with the back box converters is the cable length behind and then maybe having to extend them. Just to be prepared.

I believe I could extend the wires from the current back box using Wago's and some single core. There may well be a better way of course

MM586WH - USB charger Euro module

Seriously off the pace these days for USB chargers

Quite a while ago we had a lengthy chat on if a USB charge socket was even permitted in a bathroom. Can’t remember the outcome, but even though its output is 5v - if it’s inside zone - then it has to be a SELV supply.
Can’t see that mentioned in the docs.
