I have a fused and switched 1g spur which is spurring from a mains socket that has been spurred before. From the switched and fused spur I have a 2.5mm2 twin and earth going approximately 70cm up a safe zone to one of the follow 1g BG usb socket. I will be only using this socket only for the usb-c and maybe usb-a charging ports. I will not be using the socket itself. Should I keep a 13a fuse in the spur switch? Or since I’m only using usb could i reduce to maybe 5a?

If you only want USB then just fit USB 1760986686829.png1760986774611.pngThere is no reason to fit a 13 amp fuse to protect a 13 amp fuse. Only one is required. Units shown are grid switch modules. See for LAP plate and and Knightsbridge here

Do you mean there is already a 13A fuse protecting the wiring feeding your proposed work?

If the OP reads this, so if you’re thinking that would it still be the same thought if you were talking about low rated 240V appliances?

And if you did was it because of the thought that the plugs supplying the appliances have fuses in them?

A decent USB socket, or at least one that is actually reputable, would have a fuse for the SMPS section, but that doesn’t change anything about the fuse rating in the FCU, nor is it linked to it as the fuse in the FCU primarily protects the cable leaving it.

And whether the socket supplied from the FCU needs the fuse is a different story. It may or may not. But it’s definitely not advice to remove it.
