Switching Adapters

Hi,

Hope that you can help me on my first post.

I have an internet radio, but the plug (a switching adapter) has stopped working. I have swapped it for something that I found in the house and it is working fine, but can I just check that it is safe ??


The original plug had this info on it ----

INPUT 100-240V - 50/60 Hz 0.3A
OUTPUT +7.5V --- 1.3A



The new one says ----

INPUT AC230V 50Hz 50mA
OUTPUT DC9V 300mA


Am I going to blow the house up ????

You are feeding 9v into equipment designed for 7.5v.

Does it say on the socket of the radio what voltage it requires?

It says


DC Input 7.5V 1.3A on the back of the radio, but the original plug said +7.5V


The DC9V plugs in and the radio works - do I need to get a proper adapter ? If so, where on earth will I get one ? Or should I just leave it in as it is working ?

The adaptor doesn't supply enough current either, its short by an amp, so you are likely to overheat it if a cheapy that doesnt have overload protection.

Still a bit short on current but a lot better than what you are using at the moment.
