Is it acceptable to have switching of different circuits contained within the same gang (using grid system for example)??

not sure how you mean. You can have a 2-gang switch controlling 2 circuits, this is often seen with stairwell switches in homes.

But you cant have 2 circuits connected electrically to the same switch terminals. You'd need a contactor for this. OR if there are only two circuits, you could use a 20amp DP switch and just switch the live.

I thought you meant, say you have a separate 6A circuit for downstairs lights 1st floor lights 2nd floor lights, can you have 2-way and intermediate switches to control all the landing/hall lights, in a single gridswitch enclosure on each floor?

If that's what he means (seems the likeliest), then the answer is yes, but you must have a label to warn people that multiple circuits need to be isolated to make it safe to work inside the switch. Fortunately the design of grid switches makes this easy to do without needing labels that are normally visible.
