Switzerland will not be dictated to by the Eu

Read that earlier, walking away after 13 years of talks, I read that straight after reading about the bitch-slapping that China gave the EU. Surely Ursula can't survive much longer.

Switzerland

cukoo clocks and supplying blokes to dress up in yellow and blue striped fancy dress with spears to stand out side the Vatican

Conveniently the Swiss don't get reprimanded by the elite for being racists and right wing gammons or whatever else the lefty idiots like himmy and John d come out with.

The Swiss are smart and have seen what freedom of movement has done to other countries, and they don't want no part in that

Looks like none have read the details. They wanted to replace over 100 hundred bilateral agreements the Swiss have with the EU with a single treaty. So after not signing this treaty they fallback onto what they had before - which is access to the single market and freedom of movement.

The swiss had a referendum in 2020 on freedom of movement and 62% supported keeping it.

On other news our Government are a bunch of Donkeys.

Oops! Double negative - possibly deliberate?. I see you agree with Galahad's post above.

TIP: Always read the small print when joining one of gasbag's threads - because gasbag NEVER does.

'The Federal Council nevertheless considers it to be in the shared interest of Switzerland and the EU to safeguard their well-established cooperation and to systematically maintain the agreements already in force,' the government said.

'It therefore wishes to launch a political dialogue with the EU on continued cooperation.'

Lol.

Have you read the whole article or similar unbiassed reports from more reputable news agencies? The Swiss rely heavily upon trade with the EU. Little has changed regards their relationship with the bloc. The trick with any Wail article is to read the bit at the end and not the 'catch the gormless' headlines.

Surely Ursula can't survive much longer.
Keep repeating it, eventually one of you will die of old age.

Lol.

The agreements in place are due to run out hence the talks.

My choice of words was incorrect, obviously the Swiss have freedom of movement, but they do not want the possibility of EU members claiming benefits, as they fear they could not cope.

Another sticking point was state aid rules.

It's not to dissimilar to the issues the UK had.

Little will change.

So Switzerland keeps the 'status quo', and the UK is stuffed...

gasbag does like to make a fool of himself!

It's not all good news. The EU wanted to put their stamp un the partnership, but the Swiss said no. Fair play and all that. But they aren't stupid and rely heavily upon trading with the EU.

Ha ha ha

It was the UK whilst a member that pressured EU into the tough state aid rules it has.

The Tory party are ideologically opposed to state aid so it was never a sticking point, just a red herring.
