I’ve come across two motors.
I suspect one works and one is scrap.
As the valve is not very accessible, I wonder if and how they can be wired "on the bench" for a test.
Any ideas please ?
Do they each have 2 wires. Do they each have 240v (or something very close) stamped on them. If so a chocolate block and a length of mains lead will soon tell you which - if either -will turn when powered up
as above wire the motors to a FUSED 230V mains supply but note if the synchron motor is ok it will turn very slowly, but for all they cost is it really worth the bother ?
Thanks to Jackrae, ianmed, and Chris R for their advice.
The test sounds pretty simple and, if I'm right and one motor is OK, seems well worth doing to save about £14 plus the time and trouble of getting to a supplier.
Jackrae - "Yes" to both questions. Will motor need earthing?
