SYPHONIC ASPIRATOR

Hi all, I've looked at many posts here to do with these little bas%%%%ds.

I need to replace the siphon and the aspirator. I think I understand the principle but my one question is should the aspirator body be able to freely move up and down within the downpipe of the siphon? I'm assuming not but want to make sure. I guess if this is the case that the rubber washer is pushed up the plastic rod when the cistern is attached to the pan thereby creating the required seal.

I've only dealt with Armitage on the two that I have and the aspirator is screwed to the bottom of the syphon pipe, so it is all one solid unit.
Why do you need to replace the syphon ?

The siphon that's fitted has packed up. Has been there since we moved in. It has never worked well. It's a cheap one by the look of it and the thread on the top on the vertical pipe has now gone so that the main body keeps coming off. When I took the cistern off I found the aspirator but it wasn't attached to the bottom of the siphon I guess because it doesn't fit. So I've ordered a Dudley siphon and Syvac aspirator. It does look like the aspirator screws to the bottom of the pipe.

As the one I've got obviously wasn't designed for the siphon that was in it I couldn't reverse engineer how it should work hence my question. I guess if it just screws on the bottom the I've just got to worry about ensuring a good seal.

The aspirator that that is suited to the Turbo Siphon I think you will find
does not screw in but pushes into the outlet before tightening the large
retaining nut.

You may have to trim the spigot if it is too long and touches the porcelain
after passing through the small hole.

Start with the seal at the end of the spigot before lowering the cistern into
place.

Hi again, right. All fitted. As you suggested, the Syvac aspirator is just pushed in to the tailpipe. Seal pushed to end of spigot and then gently lowered on to the pan. All works as it should. thanks all for your help.
