Unable to see where the expansion joins will have to take a cupboard apart to get at the pipework. However I have shut all TRV's off to simulate worse case scenario (hallway where roomstat is I left without TRV)and still no pumping over.
Think as it stands I am going to leave as is (unless it is a real saftey risk), Drain the current water and refill with x100 and x200 afterall the system is over 30 years and has not caused an issue. Last thing I am going to do is change the roomstat to a programmable one so I can time hot water to come on prior to central heating demand.
