Hi,
Just building a summer house and will be running A socket/ light to it I
Wondered if I can use 2.5 t&e for this buried under ground which will be placed in conduit for a mechanical casing? I know swa is far easier however I’ve got loads of t&e and conduit left from my last project.
Cheers
Jake

Hi scally,
It’s running 12metres and it’s not much load just a tv l, the light is just a couple of led downlights connected to a 3 amp spur. I was planning on installing a single rcd at the house side so if anything outside tripped it it would trip my
House side of that makes sense?
Thanks
Jake

Ok from inside my house where I take the mains from I will have a single mcb breaker this will be after my consumer unit so if I get a overload/ rat chewing through the cable etc it won’t trip my house just the single extension, inside the shed the normal 2.5 will go to a double socket with a 3 amp fused spur off the sprocket for my light … prob clear as mud lol

Efl I was just going to pop that in the shed … I’m a
Plumber you can’t expect too much of me ! Lol

If the circuit you plan to spur off is already RCD protected, having a 2nd RCD in series won't guarantee the house won't trip

Thanks Murdo,
I guess there’s no point having one and just wire it to the main house on lol
Thanks

Dont forget to use joint compound on your conduit threads to prevent groundwater finding its way in, and also over paint the complete coupling joints to prevent any corrosion. I presume your conduit is galvanised or it won't last many years underground. If plain black steel, then wrap it in that horrid Denso tape.
Oh yes, and don't forget to cover the conduit with cable yellow marker tape before backfilling your trench.
