Hey all,

A mate has got a nice table lamp with a now broken toggle switch. He has asked me about what switch to use to replace it with but I don't know.
The lamp uses 3 core flex as it has a metal body holder for the bulb, the switch (toggle type) doesn't have an earth lug on it but has a metal top. The earth wires are terminated in a choc block from the manufacturer.
If the switch has metal parts shouldn't it be earthed?
Cheers

EDIT: Could you fit a ring terminal to the threaded part of a toggle switch before fitting it? That would earth the switch wouldn't it?

The switch is possibly classed as double insulated, therefore would not need an earth attached to it.
Could you upload a picture of switch and any markings/symbols on it?
