Tail Light - Do I need to buy whole unit

I have a Nissan Qashqui and made a small hole in the passenger tail light (the glass is cracked but no other damage)

I have been looking for a spare bit of the plastic glass but only seem to be able to get a part for the whole unit at about £80 is this normal when you only smash the glass do you need to buu the whole unit??

Yep - more likely than not, the plastic lens is glued to the lamp unit, which means you need the whole thing.
You could try ebay or breakers to keep the price down.

As John says they are all made in one piece, most lights are like that now. I have just had a look on ebay but they don't seem much cheaper, if you put a 'saved search' on ebay it will alert you when one is posted, you might be lucky and find a secondhand one.

Sweet talk your local breaker to sell a light unit.

Usually around half the price, of a new one.

Don't know which model yours is, but looks like they've got them for around £60 here for the model listed, maybe others if you search on there.
