I am planning to fit new bath and sink but have no tap connectors fitted. Am i right in thinking that once i have these fotted to supply pipes to taps I no longer have to shut off water supply at mains when working on fitting of new taps.

no, you still have no means of isolation before the taps. you want an in line tap isolator (looks like washing m/c tap connector) like this

You can get flexible tap connectors with a built-in isolation valve at the end that fits to the copper pipe. They only cost a couple of quid more, no more expensive than buying a separate connector plus a valve.

:p Many thanks for your advice...flexible seems best option so they can be adjusted easily to take up space to new taps
