Hi all.

Just wondering if there are any tricks of the trade when removing taps or is it just a case of perseverance with the old basin wrench?

Thinking of replacing my Gran's bath taps with a bath filler with attached shower head.

Welcome to one of the most awkward jobs in plumbing!

Variety of basin wrenches, or
remove the pipe, and use a box spanner, or
drill the tap out from the top, or
saw underneath the tap, once you've lifted it a bit, or
change the whole bath
!

Thanks for the reply Chris, which kind of confirms what I was thinking!!

I've only ever put new taps onto new basins/baths/sinks before fitting them which is a doddle. Never had a crack at it with taps that are in place.

I suppose I can only try!

Hmm, I'm now thinking of changing my tact from "I can get a new tap with a shower head attached and fit it for you" to "you really should get a plumber in to get a new tap with a shower head attached!!!!"

Cheers for the warnings guys!
