The hot side of the bathroom basin tap needs to be turned a long way before any water trickles out. The cold side is fine.

Is this simply a case of a new washer, if so which size is most common? Or do I need a tap reviver kit, and if so what size is most common (1/2" or 3/4")?

Are you suggesting a tap reviver because it's easier? Or because it definitely isn't a washer fault?

A tap reviver kit which is a hot and cold tap head is only about £10, it's like having a new tap. While you are there change the basin as well.

I would suspect the internal worn has come undone, these can be refitted together but they are more likely to come undone again.
