I've just watched one of the hurdles heats, the british runner qualifies third.
Then they interviewed her afterwards and she was a yank??
What is the point of that? Apart from undermining the whole ethos of the olympics, if the girl was any good she'd be running for the american team, it's obvious that they must have girls who can beat her, so barring some kind of freak happening she's got no chance of winning anyway.

That will be Tiffany Porter....shes ran for both US and Great Britain and has nationality for both countries.

She didnt qualify for Beijing in 2008 as a US athelete....so she changed to GB to try for London 1012.

I wonder who she would represent if shes was one of the top hurdlers in the world....probably the US :?

But why would we want her when she obviously can't win a medal because the Americans are all better than her?
There would be some slight justification if she had a chance, but denying one of our own athletes (there must be one at least in that event)the chance to compete to accomodate this girl is all wrong.
Even if she was a world beater it wouldn't be right anyway and makes a mockery of the whole idea of different nations putting their best up against each other.

Don't forget, that GB is a rather cosmopolitan country now. We had Greg Rusedski, represent us at tennis some years ago (even though he's Canadian) And who can forget Zola Budd, the infamous barefoot athlete from South Africa.

We do have quite a lot of team GB athletes born overseas, Mo Farrah was born in Somalia, Bradley Wiggins was born in Belgium. I dont think it matters at all as long as they are raised and brought up here.

We dont want anymore like Zola Budd though, she only came to Britain to race because she wasnt allowed to compete in S Africa, through her British grandfather........straight after the olympics she was back to S Africa!!!

Only last week did i learn that Linford Christie was an import from Jamaca.
Sadly for the rest of the world they are now holding on to their runners.
