We are going to get the kitchen replaced in the near future and part of the process involves replacing the flooring in the kitchen, utility room and downstairs WC.

The toilet and washbasin are going to be replaced so we will remove the old ones and replace with new items once the new floor is down.

What is the recommended method of sealing the open toilet waste pipe whilst the work is ongoing?

We want to protect against smells obviously and we also don't want any rodent problems (not sure how likely that actually is).

Wondered if there are any proprietary products to seal the pipe or do we just lash something up from what we have lying about the house.

Thanks

Leave the pan in for as long as possible and then tie a carrier bag round soile pipe or stuff with a bin bag into opening of soil pipe.
