Doubling the end of the wire over is only needed if the wire is small compared to the size of the terminal.
For example, if you have sockets with very large terminals, and only a single wire going in there, folding the wire over will fill the terminal better, so that the wire is secured properly.
If there are several wires, then not necessary. Don't twist wires together either.
