Tesla sales crash

Anyone on here driven a BYD? I have.

The Seal 'Excellence' is the equivalent of the Tesla Model 3. The BYD was poor to drive, and wasn't very nice inside. It worked out to be about £1.5k cheaper than the Tesla, but clearly wasn't as good. I went with the Tesla.

I'm sure a lot of people in the same position would do the same. I don't care very much for Mr Musk anymore, but I'm not going to choose a lessor product for some virtue signalling.

The BYD cheap EVs might be better value for some, but it's unlikely those buyers would have been Tesla customers anyway.

I imagine that most people on here are smart enough to realise that the car market is very large, just because one manufacturer is growing it doesn't necessarily mean it's all at the expense of one other manufacturer's market share.
 
It's not virtue signalling.

Virtue signalling is when you do down others who disagree with you and make out that you are the righteous person.

Choosing not to buy a product because the person that runs the company is a ****head is a matter of principle. Even if you think that product is superior.

It's all a pretension; otherwise you'd stop listening to the music of Wagner because of his rampant anti-semitism. Where would it end?
 
In my experience most CEOs have some psychopathy. Musk is almost certainly neurodivergent. I recall the boss of VW group has been investigated for various things and of course [VW] famously faked their emissions. I'd be driving a Highland Model 3 performance now if it wasn't for the lack of indicators. I test drove it with the intention of trading my current model 3, but walked away thinking "not yet". If we didn't have a crossover BMW X1 in the household already, I'd be out shopping for a used ipace at 1/2 the price.

BYDs have appalling build quality based on those I've seen overseas. Having said that I've seen some pretty ropey early Tesla model 3s that looked like they'd been accident repaired from the factory.
