Contact an electrician who is equiped with Low value continuity tester, insulation tester, RCD tester, Earth loop impedance tester and Max fault current tester and the knowledge to use them.

If your getting someone else to do it, its a PIR you want to ask for (periodic inspection report).

There's quite a bit of work involved if its done properly.

If you ask for one to be done make sure you'll be given a copy of all the paperwork.

I'm absolutely with arctic - a well-written report will tell you, or whoever does the rectification, what needs doing, and understand the complexity, amount of work, and likely cost. It also gives a checklist that you can use to verify that all the faults have been remedied. Bit like an MoT failure.

Be careful you don't let someone do a PIR and keep the detail so that only he knows what rectification is required. A trick to make sure he gets the business. There are also firms who will do a "free" inspection so that they get to charge what they want for the repairs.
