Hi all
is this device good enough for checking concrete moisture levels prior to laying laminate flooring?
Protimeter
Model: BLD5760 - Aquant

If not what is a cheap but efective device to buy?
Iknow some fitters use a hygrometer so could an effective method be to simply place a room hygrometer on the concrete and cover up so it takes the reading from the floor and not the room?

The device you listed is only a indicator for finding the wettest area of flooring to set up a hygrometer. But if it reads in the green you are normally o.k.. The only test you should do to british standard is a hygrometer test. As for making your own im not sure how accurate the air gap inside should be. Mine are about 6"x6"x1". ( inside air gap size) I have a few different ones but all around the same air space. If you do make your own make sure it is well sealed and you must leave for 24-72hrs to get reading. Must be less than 75% rh.
