Testing Pit Supplies

Was doing some testing last week of 30 or so circuits in pits. With 2 pits to go, I come across this.

I'm pretty sure this socket's IP rating isn't suitable

Strange sockets... or are they the centre part of 32A 5P ceeform?

They are not even that - there's exposed live conductors there (remember the neutral is a live conductor)
I'd code 1 it!
Or is the covers off for the testing? If they are meant to be suitable for submersion then they need to be IPx8

They're 63a TP&N Sockets with the covers off

Covers are off of them and they are mounted upside down so the angled outlet will face up as opposed to down by the looks of it. hence the reason why the abb isolator is upside down in the panel. Definitekey are not suitable for that location.

Well I guess so. The pits havn't been given the proper consideration for drainage, so this has occured under normal conditions.

The onsite plumber has said he will try to get a sump in place.

They are fitted right way round and have been locked off by myself.

These are located at a racecourse and were used recently to supply a concert and some bars and catering vehicles via temporary distro boxes.

Sorry widdler but i beg to differ with you, they ARE upside down unless they are below those adaptable boxes and you have managed to photograph water defying gravity . ALL MK switched commando sockets have the switch on the right and the socket on the left. See this link

I can see why they have done it that way to make it look the right way up from above, but from a moisture point of view they should be mounted with the angled socket facing downwards to allow water to run off not into the socket.

Sorry of course you are right.

But I remember them being right way up as I was laying down leaning over them
