You could start with the likes of the books by Brian Scaddan, it is probably not worth buying Guidance Note 3 or the On Site Guide at the moment as in the upcoming months they will be replaced by the 17th edition versions.
You'll have to wait until the 12th of May for his 17th edition books, worth the wait though as his 16th edition inspection, testing and certification book was very good.
The City and Guilds 2382-01 17th edition course would be a better to start with as you need a good understanding of the regs BS7671 to carry out testing and inspection.
Most colleges will require you alredy hold this or the 2381 16th edition before enrolling.
