Texas shooting - 26 dead.

Another appalling tragedy.

What a surprise, they are blaming mental illness

Seeing as about a third of us will suffer some mental illness in our lives, attributing that as the cause of another mad shooting sort of undermines the gun lobby's position.

the gun lobby argue that gun homicide has increased in countries including UK following a gun ban.

they also argue that if guns are removed, murders are committed by some other means.

Guns don't kill people, people do. Don't blame the tool, blame the person.

Terrorists are using vehicles as weapons. Should vehicles be banned too then?

The vehicle isn't designed as a weapon. By that logic we would need to also ban hands.

Straight from the NRA hymn sheet. What we need is more guns! I thought the primary use of a car was for transport, heres me thinking all these trucks and cars are made by Smith & Wesson, H&K

How many people do you reckon that Vegas shooter would have killed with a bow and arrow from that hotel room?

Ah, but most of the guns he had on him were illegal to own, yet he still managed to get them. Explain that one?

I think that is the biggest justification for a ban on guns. If something so dangerous isnt available, it cant be used.

Murders rates from guns are very small in the UK, under 50 per year.

With very tight gun controls and severe sentencing for possession of illegal guns the UK makes it very difficult for anyody to amass an arsenal that could be used for a mass shooting.

Of course there is no quick solution in the US as 265million guns cant be removed overnight :)
