So the family bought a house with a Texecom Premier Elite 48w system but no codes. So am prepped for the reset and a day of reading from the installation manual and setting alarms off.

I will probably have many questions, but first, once the reset has gone through, will the previous communication to the server centre setup be reset?
They would like to use it as a basic alarm, the service was discontinued some time ago, and as they will be mostly zoned for out buildings seems silly to pay.
Also, if the system is being used as a standalone unit, is there a need for a firmware update, or is this mostly to combat issues for online use?

Thank you :)

First of all, look at reset of engineers code only, Texecom you tube channel, if nvm isn’t locked that is your least effort required.

Also if this doesn’t work, neither will a full default! So why full default at this stage.
You only need this if you don’t have engineers code, if you don’t have rest try the default engineers code you might drop lucky!

Doing a full reset will wipe everything out and i suspect it will give you some grief.

I don’t know how your system is setup wrt to coms on it, smart com or other.
The answer to the server and what you need to do will solely depend on what you have.

Comip, and the app associated with it is defunct, so unlikely that will be available to you at all, unless it was something specific for the installer.

The Smart com, if it hasn’t been upgraded through the ages, then chances are it be a new smartcom.

If it’s a smart com of a certain age but upgraded it may or may not be on a cloud account.

If it is on a cloud account, it could be assigned to the installer, in which case a request to take it over is required.

If they don’t authorise it, then that’s where the fun begins.

So Menu 4 on the keypad will tell me the version of the panel currently, this is critical information as the process and what’s likely to of been done or not. In combination with coms module.

Not convinced it’s a straightforward task these days.

For example Wintex 8.2 build 1.5 and above requires cloud account details to access programming, although you can use it over ip in a different way.

Wow thanks, a bit to work through. And thanks for the heads up on full resetting, gave me thinking time and realised this is a multi zoned system across a house and two outbuildings, and more than likely a lot of the points probably need batteries etc. This project looks like it may have to be done over time so will refence here and update

So some updates information. We found black cylinder shape fobs that have 4 buttons which is handy, located one that is registered and operated the alarm activation by accident, first panicked moment, lol. I was wondering if these can be used to change the codes as tried the enginners code but seem to not got a responce, though thinking about it I was in a bit of a panic so will try again tomorrow.

The owners have tried contacting the installer, unfortunatly they went bust and contact details on companies house are no longer valid, hense why I thought to disconnect the unit from communications and just have a basic (old style) system

Sounds like your bitting off more than you can chew.

The cylinder things look like whistles and a few buttons., these are smart keys.

The main thing to look at on these, is do they have anything on the under side at the thin end. newer versions have a prox tag built in, these have an easy replaceable battery the older ones do not and are effectively scrap.

Given your lack of understanding of the system, the simplest thing is to establish some basics first.

1. What you actually have
2. Do you have user codes and or engineers codes.
3. Is the panel locked. (Locked you can do nothing other than attempt to get it unlocked). Defaulting completely or code only won’t work if it’s locked.

Realistically this is potentially very messy to try and sort out, especially if panel is locked.

I don’t know what you have and you talk about coms and that could be anything.

For example someone called me today, local to me and told me they believe panel is locked, they appear to believe the installer screwed original owners over. But they didn’t want to discuss certain things to attempt to help them out.

Realistically in their case easiest option is to replace panel for something newer asa version 2.x elite, so very old basic model, they can use what’s on the system on a more modern panel, so probably cheapest option for them, assuming the devices connected are working, if they aren’t then it becomes a more diverse options to consider, ie upgrade some parts or replace the lot with a new system or even consider a different manufacturer.

There was someone doing unlock or recovering engineers codes on an auction site, but they may no longer be offering the service, you can do this in various ways but if you get it wrong you can damage the panel, you also sending a picnic through the post, so risky in more ways than one
