Hi all, I could do with some advice
I have a Premier Elite 64W which I installed in 2022. It has v5,xx firmware and operates extremely well (although I have never updated the FW !)
I have used all of the 32 wireless zones and want to add a more wireless zones using an expander.
I assume that the existing panel will supply the 12v power to the expander and that the expander will be hard-wired to the existing panel and that I will have to change the dip switch settings to accommodate the new expander ?
I also assume that this will not affect my existing 32 wireless zones ??
I have looked at the 32xp expander which doesn't seem expensive but cannot ascertain if it is compatible with my existing 64W panel.
Could you please check out my working assumptions and correct me where I am wrong and advise me on which panel I should go for
Thanks in advance
Peter

buy a new expander from a reputable source, ebay for example is full of new, but when you check it out it is either used or new old stock.

dip switch 5 on the address dipswitches on the new expander and you should be good to go.

Thanks for your help and advice secureiam.
So all I have to do is

1) connect up the 12v power supply.
2) change the setting of dip switch 5 from off to on
3) hard wire the data connection from the expander to the alarm control panel (2 wires ?)

Is that all of the configuration required ?

Thanks so much

Peter

Thanks
Just to be clear do I need to hard wire between the 2 panels

Thanks. All my devices are wireless, including the key pads so that means hard wired to the main alarm panel for me.
Does the "power supply" come via the 4 wire network cable ?

Alarm cable is wired from any point in the network +- TR and same on the expander.

in your case the panels network terminals to expanders network terminal

So can I use a Texecom Premier Elite 8XP-W Wireless Expander GCD-0001
or do I need Texecom CCB-0001 Premier Elite 8XP Remote Zone Expander
Ideally I would install it right next to the Main Alarm box with a wired connection

Wireless requires wireless expander.
Question is how many wireless devices?

1-8 wireless devices requires at least an 8XP-W
32XP-W up to 32 wireless devices

Do you need any hard wired devices?

Hi there
Just a couple of points for clarification please
1) After I have set dip switches 1 & 4 on the expander to on, and connected the 4 wires to the 64-w panel will there be a notification on my wireless keypads that I need to confirm the added device or do I need to go into the confirm devices menu to find the new expander

2) Do I need to power off the main alarm panel to connect the 4 wires ?

3) How do I add new devices onto the expander ? Is that done through the keypad as it was before the expander was added or is there a new routine to go through for adding devices (all zones on my 64-W panel are currently in use)

Hope you can advise, thanks

Peter

1 The system should see the changes and ask you to confirm devices.
2 Recommended, but I rarely power down, as long as you're careful (but I have been installing Tex equipment for 20 years).
3 Yes.
