You could also rent an RV and do the whole trip by road. La Rochelle, Bordeaux, over the Pyrenees in to Spain back across the French Riviera and up the midi - Paris at the end.

The Mrs would absolutely love that!! But if we ever do an RV trip it will be in the USA.

I’ll be to busy in France and Spain enjoying their delicious wines and beers.

Getting across Paris is the weak link.

Isn't it ever. Had to get from CDG airport last year to Paris Montparnasse station. Took for ever on the RER trains. Seemed to take as long to get into Paris as my onwards train journey from Paris to Bordeux.
