Aah that.
That was an unfortunate event. But how is it bragging?
It's just the truth. Workers these days are easy to come by. Lined up at the gate on most sites.
So why tolerate disobedience?
You shouldn't be too annoyed though as it was two ee's.

No thats competence JD.
Next day we had two much more productive workers hired.
And I didn't need to use the whip!

Industrial relations were notoriously bad in Britain. A combination of untrained and incompetent management; lack of investment; cultural contempt for trade, industry and engineering; an education system where the brightest and best were directed into academia and the professions; and insecurity of employment, combined with a legacy of dislike and distrust.

Not understanding that poor industrial relations, and treating workers like ****, has poor results = incompetence.

I wouldn't say we treat workers like sh@it. Thats going a bit far.
I can't tolerate disobedience though. Makes my blood boil.
If we were incompetent we'd be bust by now given the state of the economy.

it's the state of the economy that (for the moment) causes some workers to put up with bad treatment.

Those who are good enough to find a better job where they will be treated with respect, won't stay.

Management have it tougher than the workers these days.
Workers have rights , breaks , policies to protect them and the ability to air grievances.

Managers in the other hand work extra hours unpaid , take their work home with them , miss all their lunches and work holidays, are under constant scrutiny and pressure to report kpi's and improve processes. Have problems and pressures from both sides.

It's hardly any wonder when faced with someone who utters that immortal line 'It's not my job' they decide to summarily kick their ass out the door.
A workers life is honestly a piece of ****.

Workers have rights , breaks , policies to protect them and the ability to air grievances....

...Managers ....decide to summarily kick their ass out the door.

contradictory statements there.

Except you got it wrong arzehole.
You claim farmers loved the Baroness because she subsidized then heavily.
We noticed no change on our farm subsidies during the labour or thatcher era's. It was set by the CAP.

Post up the evidence or stfu. (He won't)

Its very true, and Thatcher lovers like yourself dont like to admit it.

As soon as these CAP subsidies are stopped the better? Farmers doing nothing on their land to get the payments is robbery of taxpayers. Farmers dont have to grow anything or keep any animals to get their payments. Disgraceful!

The words of a true Rsole, you wouldn't last 5 minutes in a proper job.

So you agree with disobedience?

Why do companies employ staff?

Is it so they can pay some lippy idiot who thinks the world owes him a living while he sits on his butt and moans bringing down morale or is it because they want the company to be successful and expect the employee to 'honour his contract of employment' by doing the job specified in the hours specified.

Disobedient staff need to be kicked out at the first opportunity before they just walk out on your company anyway leaving you with a huge problem.

I would sack anyone who refused a reasonable request.

Here we see a person who is dedicated to bad industrial relations and bad staff management.

I would sack anyone who refused a reasonable request.

Fair enough.

Do you think it reasonable to expect workers to do unpaid overtime, simply because you can sack them if they refuse.

The way norcon describes it, his workers often do unpaid overtime on minimal wage, he really does come across as a bit of a c(nt.
