At the time she was education secretary the tory government was looking for cuts.
She saved a few bob by depriving kids over the age of ten from free milk in school. The fact that most of those kids didn't need it isn't the point. There were many kids, either neglected at home or from very poor backgrounds who did. That didn't matter to Maggie, that sums the bi*ch up for me.

Yeah but the money she saved went on to build new primary schools.
What would you have done?
Let the kiddies keep their milk and just borrow to build the new schools?
It's a trade off at the end off the day and it was the right decision imo.

Maybe if the lazy barstewards in british industry at the time had got off their arzes and worked she might not have had to implement such a decision.

I would have thought that the money she saved was shaved from the education budget, thereby giving the chancellor of the day some of the cuts he was looking for from all depts. That's the way it normally works.
But even if it did, it was not the right decision, no way.

The reason we pay extortionate prices for our energy today is as a direct result of what Thatcher did. How can that be a good thing? Privatising the industry so that energy prices are based solely on foreign company profits and shareholder expectations?

The constant erosion of peoples terms and conditions in the workplace - another direct result of her crushing the trade unions, who although were too powerful always stood up for the workers to ensure better terms and conditions, pay and pay rises which reflected the rate of inflation.

She did nothing for industry and manufacturing in the UK, she got rid of the coal mines, the steel industry and much much more.

A very clever woman no doubt however. RIP
