Are moaning that Labour want to make the Home Office obliged to prove that people have no right to remain in the UK.

Surely this should be a given.

Although, after Windrush, maybe not...
 
Unless they 'fessed up you could never prove someone had no right to be here. They could actively block all attempts to investigate them in order to remain. Is it really so hard to show bank account details, payslips, education records, bills? If the PPI firms can find your records why can't you?

You can have bank account details, education records, bills, etc without the required length of stay in UK.
If you were self-employed, unemployed, or have a friendly employer, you could even arrange payslips without much difficulty.
They prove zilch.

You are allowed 180 days out of UK each year before your ILR becomes invalid:
