The Father - Dementia

Family film night last night & I can highly recommend 'The Father' if you haven't already. At least 3x Oscars here & whoever the actress was in the last scene deserves 2 of 'em, I'm not sure if she was acting . . .

I doubt that anyone with dementia has ever written down their experiences & exactly how it affects them, but having witnessed it from this side then it looks a fair way to portray it.

I've made it known, whilst I reserve the right to forget birthdays & anniversarys etc, if I don't know what day it is, if I forget the grandkids names, then shoot me, just shoot me.

I saw the process of my father in laws decline from Lewy Body Dementia.

It damages the physical and executive function before memory.

What is horrible to cope with is the freezing. In sitting down, he would 2/3rds of the way to sit on a chair, then freeze, with his leg muscles all tense.....sometimes stuck in that position for 15 mins
