The headlight randomly switches to parking light!!!

Hi

I recently bought a Vauxhall Agila Estate 2007. When the headlight are turned on sometimes they randomly switch to parking lights and I either have to tap on the headlight switch for the headlight to come back on or turn the switch off and on. It is really frustrating. Could anyone please let me know what could be causing this problem.

you could remove the switch, and spray contact cleaner inside then operate the switch back and forth, I assume it's a rotary switch?
If the contacts are burnt then I'm afraid it's new switch time.

without seeing the car, I could not tell you, but usually they just prize out, try getting a screwdriver and lever it out, it should have a plug and socket on the rear, it's an item that can be replaced.
