My bf lives in a flat on the second floor, and if he doesent use the shower for 3 or for days (dont worry people he is still washing!) there is a smelly water smell coming from the shower - I checked that the trap still has water in it after it hasnt been used but water is still there......could it be that an angle is wrong on the pipe further down the line? Thankyou

has the trap got enough water in ?
does it smell if you put your nose near it ?

Im pretty sure the trap has enough water in it - if not can this be resolved by a HepVo? Its en suite and makes the whole bedroom smell! Cheers

If the trap has water in it then the "smell" cant be the drains, your bf might be lazy and taking a crap in the shower and not poking it down the waste sufficiently.I would dump him now love,it's just the beginning :!:

hmmm, he could be innocent?

it could be the trap leaking from the lower gasket seal on the trap, i've seen some where the traps internal seal is actually above the traps gasket seal, so if it leaks then you can get gasses coming back. yeuchh.

if he pops the grill out and shines a light down there, it will be obvious if the water level is below the sealing tubes bottom.

hope that makes sense.....

One of my customers obviously does not use her bidet because whenever I go there and use thre basin the trap in the bidet has evidently dried out.

I correct the situation by using the bidet to wash my feet and that will probably fix it until until my next visit a week later.

I have had this before (not being smelly) where the waste pipes fall is not that good you get a build up of skin, soap, pubes etc.. well because the shower waste is a shallow seal it can let some air back as the water is draining, cut a long story short, use D-block an acid based cleaner and I reckon it will solve it....

A word of caution buy a small funnel to get passed the shower grate and only use a tiny bit at a time as it will cause such a violent reaction when the acid hits the gunk the it can come back up the waste and damage the chrome.
