I'm puzzled by hinges and could do with some advice.

Just now I've an internal door, hollow, light, and held in place with a couple of loose pin 3" butt hinges. I'm going to replace it with a solid door weighing 22kg. Then my wife spotted chrome plated hinges.

Now I'm puzzled about how many to use, what size and where to place them. Two 4" butt hinges look nice, but are they too big? Or three 3" butt hinges at top, middle and bottom?

Can anyone pass on their experience please?

i always use 3 hinges even on light weight doors as i think it helps prevent the door from bowing.
it depends on the quality of the hinges really.i would put 3 on it anyway even if you go for the 3".
